Shown below is a pair at skeet station 6 in our patent pending virtual reality shotgun shooting trainer. High tower seems to be leaning a bit here, but won’t in a VR headset, where you can look straight up into the sky, down at the station pad, or behind you at the grizzly.
Send your comments to Pete. We have had some great input already in PMs, including questions about ISSF rules – can do, since we can alter flight speed and clay release delay, and about shot probability patterns, which we have looked at with the great Dr. AC Jones, whose work on shot pattern probabilities appears here.
Is this going to be substitute for going to the range ? Yes and no.
Yes, for some teaching, diagnostic, coaching and indoor / off season practice. No for practicing gun swing, shots on real targets, in-depth coaching and practice. At the range, you can get some of the same visual information from David Stewart at ShotKam which we recommend as part of a comprehensive suite of teaching and practice aides.

Can you choose your own hold point?
Chip Northrup says
We supply generic hold points, look points, break zones as teaching aides. You can turn these off and practice with whatever hold point you feel comfortable with.

I want to practice shotgun shooting skills utilizing virtual reality technology
before taking annual bird hunting trips for woodcock and ruffed grouse to
Northern New England. Bird covers are dense, over undulating terrain of
hummucks, and through alders and poplar, under, over, or around blow downs,
along stream courses. Almost like hunting and shooting in a linen closet. Shots
are very fast, and usually mostly spot shooting rather than more open, pass
shooting with leads. Many times birds will break point and run off, before I can
reach the bird dog, on point. Challenging hunting. But great fun. . .

We are finishing up the major clay disciplines- skeet, trap and 5 Stand. Some of the 5 Stand shots may simulate a quick shot at a woodcock or grouse – which we shoot in Upstate New York. I proofed the latest build yesterday and we have all the disciplines done, now a matter of de-bugging. Then beta units will go out on demo. I will have a demo unit in New York in 2 months. Pete will have one in Texas. We may ship one to one of Pete’s mates in UK.
We will address bird simulations – quail, ducks, grouse – in Gen 2. Early adopters will get subsequent builds gratis.

Chip
