While wrapping up the Flash projected version – true scale Skeet range – on a large wall or screen, the LeadTech programmers have been working on a Virtual Reality version, starting with the Oculus Rift platform. Here’s a draft glimpse of The Shape of Virtual Reality Clays to Come:
Followed by Trap and some other surprises . . . .
Ken Schafer says
Pete, this is very exciting. What platform does it need? Will it be able to critique a miss and offer suggestions?
Chip Northrup says
Initially Oculus Rift is the target VR platform – although we are looking at Sony Morpheus etc. – anything that we can adapt the Unity code to.
The Flash (projected version) will have Pete’s voice over. For individual coaching, the Flash version will enable a coach or friend to critique the shots.
The VR version could have a video capture that will enable a friend or coach to offer critiques and coaching – will discuss that with the programmers.
Max Power says
Is this programmed for ISSF skeet? Do the VR goggles interfere with gun mount/cheek weld? This looks really interesting.
Chip Northrup says
It is programmed for US skeet rules, not ISSF. We will add ISSF, trap, 5 stand etc.
VR goggles may interfere with some high comb stocks, we are working on gun fit solutions, including bespoke gun peripherals.
Will post next VR build soon. Stay tuned.
