Most of them not only won’t make you better, but they will be misleading -they will make you worse with a real gun. The sight picture will be wrong, the scale will be wrong, they will not take “forward allowance” or ballistics into consideration, and the controller will be ergonomically incorrect.
They will teach you correct skills only if the game is specifically designed to accurately simulate correct sight picture at the muzzle, the gun controller is the same dimensions as the gun avatar in the scene and the scene is to scale, which, no coincidentally, is exactly what we do.
We put the gun controller on a real gun or an accurate replica gun, and we render that gun in the game. The sight picture, trajectories, ballistics, etc. are empirically derived and true to scale. This can only be done effectively in 3D, ie. in virtual reality.
