The first VR gun controller prototypes are ready for testing on real guns.
Shown below are pictures of the controller on a Belgian Browning 20 gauge. The trigger controller has a paddle trigger next to the trigger guard. The motion tracker is an HTC Vive controller fitted to a bore arbor in the muzzle. Gen 2 will use the Vive Tracker
The view from the headset:
The trigger controller can be flipped over for left handers:

Pretty Cool

Great idea, nice choice on the Browning…
Will it eventually have a micro trigger sensor so you can practice with your installed trigger? That would be ideal, though might be tough to design…
best from ‘Stralia mate…:-)
The Nolans
Chip Northrup says
We are going to talk about the production version tomorrow. The idea with the paddle trigger – which works fine – was to keep “the blindman’s finger” off of the real trigger – for safety’s sake. But we may forsake that approach and go with a pressure sensor on the real trigger.
Robert Dickson says
Could you keep me updated with any new developments please
Chip Northrup says
We have finished a draft of CLAZER 1.2 – that adds simulated recoil, call for clays, mimes reloading and multiple gun selection – a few bugs to sort out
Still testing the gun controller for your own shotgun – and mapping out the production design/budget – kindly circle back – we are not keeping a formal email list
Rob says
Please add me to your email distro for updates
Chip Northrup says
We are going to publish version 1.2 tomorrow with Pull command, recoil, multiple guns, reloading, see your hands in scene etc.
Then finish the gun controller prototype
Dan Meier says
I was thinking this would be cool combined with an iTarget shotgun shell (which doesn’t exist yet). This would allow you to use your own gun without modification and the VR gear would just have to match the laser output with the target projection. That’s pretty much what I was expecting when I saw the name cLAZER.
Chip Northrup says
Good idea but we are not building hardware -except the gun controller. Get the HTC Vive VR rig – we should have a production VR gun controller by Q3
BusterSellers says
Where can I try it?
Chip Northrup says
We have finished beta testing the VR gun controller prototype and are building the pre-production test units. So Q3. Get the HTC Vive VR system – the gun controller will work on it.
Chris Lancaster says
When will this be commercially available?
Chip Northrup says
End of summer. We have finished doing the proof-of-concept testing and are now designing the hardware, firmware and software for the production model for the HTC Vive system.
Will blog the updates, but much is going on in the woodshed .. .
Elio Belli says
very nice idea!
i will follow you for news.
would be fantastic if works with playstation vr
Chip Northrup says
Thanks
SONY PlayStation does not support 3rd party peripherals that could be attached to a gun or a faux gun
We may have a SPVR build – stay tuned
Martin says
is this now available for the HTC vive, I would like to get a vive and adaptor for my shotgun?
Chip Northrup says
Martin
It’s available for Vive, but all the trackers are going to military demos – have 5 scheduled this week
